422plus Project

Efficient mobility in the 422 Corridor is essential for current and future employment, economic development opportunities, and quality of life; however, traditional sources of funding will not adequately ensure that mobility.
Funding for transportation infrastructure, both highway and transit, is currently a critical issue at the federal, state, and local level, and the 422 Corridor is directly impacted by this crisis. According to a press release from DVRPC (May 4, 2010), many transportation projects are now being deferred throughout our region, including $200 million of improvements to the 422 Corridor. Montgomery, Chester, and Berks Counties have come together on the 422plus Project to consider new ways to fund much-needed improvements to our aging highway and transit systems within the 422 Corridor.
The 422plus Project Team is currently developing the traffic model and analyzing transportation improvement options. Project updates and public outreach opportunities are expected in late 2010.
